Create shift names and codes to track production
Summary
Shift codes are used to group shifts together. Shift names are independent of the shift calendar. For example, you can use this feature to track shifts across multiple plants or departments that may have different schedules.
We recommend shift names being generic and not tied directly to machines, facilities or calendars. Instead of using Machine 1 Shift 1, try using 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, Day Shift, Night Shift.
Field Descriptions
- Shift Code: An internal code for the shift, can be used for reporting but generally not shown to users.
- Shift Name: The most common uses for this metric are 1st Shift, 2nd Shift or 3rd shift. This is what users see when using filters on the dashboards or when shifts are displayed in the system.
