Steps on how to set up the machine communication tags and alerts.
Overview
A heartbeat tag can be placed on a machine to monitor when a machine loses connection. To notify the operators, a banner will display on the Operator Screen when the heartbeat tag has reached the timeout established on the machine's settings.
Steps to Set up the machine communication tag.
- Go to the Administration Tab.
- Click on Cell/Machine.
- Edit or add the line or machine you want to place the tag on.
- Go to Tag Mapping and select the tag where the heartbeat tag is coming from.
- Tag name: Name of the heartbeat tag associated with this machine.
- Timeout: number of seconds after the last heartbeat tag was received to set a no connection signal.
- Click Save.
How to set up Alerts for Machine Communication Failure
- Go to the Administration Tab.
- Click on Alerts.
- Add an Alert and select "Connection Failure" for the type.
- Fill in the required metrics (Name and Description) on the General Tab.
- Name: name for the alert
- Description: description of the alert
- Active: This alert will be considered if enabled.
- Facility: Filters the facilities the alert will be considered on
- Department: filters the departments the alert will be considered on
- Machine: filters the machine the alert will be considered on
- Recipients: people that will receive the notification if the expression is met
